Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Bout collects, why, and what control you have over it. If anything here is unclear, email mgroves5022@outlook.com.

What we collect

• Account information. Your email address and the handle you choose, used to create and sign you into your account.
• Gameplay data. Your puzzle answers, scores, solve times, streaks, season and division history, crew membership, and pick'em predictions. This is what makes the ladder work.
• Device token for notifications. If you allow push notifications, we store the token your device provides so we can tell you the daily bout is live.
• Subscription status. Whether you hold an active subscription, so we can unlock premium features.
• Basic diagnostics. Crash and error reports containing device model, operating system version, and app version.

We do not collect your contacts, your precise location, your photos, or your browsing activity in other apps or websites. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

How we use it

We use the data above only to operate the app: to run your account, deliver and score the daily puzzle, maintain crew ladders and seasons, send the notifications you opted into, provide premium features to subscribers, and fix bugs. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

What other players see

Members of your crew or house league can see your handle, your daily and season scores, your streak, and your division. They cannot see your email address. Bout has no public feed, no followers, and no algorithmic discovery — your results are visible only inside the leagues you belong to.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf, under their own privacy commitments:

• Supabase — hosts our database and authentication.
• Apple Push Notification service — delivers push notifications.
• RevenueCat — manages subscription entitlements. Payment card details are handled by Apple and never reach us or RevenueCat.

Retention

We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and disassociate your historical scores. Backups are purged on a rolling basis within 30 days.

Your rights and choices

• Delete your account. In the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete account. This removes your account and personal data.
• Access or correct your data. Email us and we'll provide a copy or make the correction.
• Turn off notifications. Revoke the permission in your device settings at any time; the app keeps working without it.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the Australian Privacy Act, the GDPR, or the CCPA. Email us to exercise them.

Children

Bout is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on managed infrastructure with access restricted to those who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page, and we'll notify you in the app if the change is significant.
